Lauren has been a member of the Nylink staff since 1989. Since joining Nylink, she has developed many training sessions, covering topics ranging from cataloging of electronic resources and other non-print formats, searching WorldCat, local holdings maintenance in Connexion, and WorldCat Collection Analysis to data mining concepts. Lauren also teaches and supports users of the Connexion interface. Before joining Nylink, Lauren was a law librarian, and prior to receiving her MLS from Queens College, Graduate School of Library & Information Studies (GSLIS), in January of 1981, her favorite job was being a bicycle messenger in New York City.

Her professional interests are in cataloging, data mining, technical services and workflow issues relating to implementation of technology.

A frequent trainer, Lauren teaches an average of 20 classes per year for Nylink, and has taught “Rules and Tools for Cataloging Internet Resources” for SCCTP. In addition, Lauren has been a member of the adjunct faculty at the School of Information Science and Policy, Nelson A. Rockefeller School of Public Policy, University at Albany, State University of New York, where she has taught ISP 603, Information Processing.

Favorite authors include: Olga Broumas, Audre Lorde, Neil Stephenson and Jeanette Winterson. Favorite activities include cooking, gardening, reading, listening to music, and watching DIY television shows.
