On November 4, 2008, OCLC issued its revised policy statement regarding the use of bibliographic records from WorldCat, entitled the Policy for Use and Transfer of WorldCat Records. Originally scheduled to go into effect for OCLC users on Sunday, November 2, 2008, the new policy is now scheduled to become effective after a period of review in mid-February 2009. The introduction of the policy has led to vigorous discussions, on blogs and listservs, among librarians and OCLC staffers.
Join Nylink for a moderated discussion of the Policy for Use and Transfer of WorldCat Records. The event is scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, January 16 at the main branch of the New York Public Library. Karen Calhoun, Vice President, OCLC WorldCat and Metadata Services will also be present.
Moderator: Robert Wolven, Assistant University Librarian for Bibliographic Services and Collection Development at Columbia University Libraries
