WorldCat Collection Analysis

WorldCat Collection Analysis lets you analyze your collection and compare it to other collections without requiring you to expend extensive staff time, or financial resources by providing precise data that reveals your library’s subject-matter strengths, gaps, and overlaps. This workshop covers the basic set-up, administration, and use of the service.

After taking this class you will be able to:

  • Utilize the WorldCat Collection Analysis service and related administrative module.
  • Set-up analyses measuring your institutions against other institutions and peer groups.
  • Perform a variety of searches in WorldCat Collection Analysis.
  • Understand the benefits of both the group and individual interface views.
  • Identify unique items in your collection and detect gaps and overlaps.
  • Generate reports.
  • Export collection analysis results to MS Excel.

Who Should Attend This Workshop: Any one who has very recently acquired a subscription or anyone who is seriously considering initiating a subscription to Collection Analysis and who would like to learn the basic features and possible uses for this tool.
