Metadata for Digital Collections

Are you planning a digitization project? Are your library’s existing digital collections being used effectively? Add value and improve access to your digital collections with well-considered, well-structured metadata. Learn the basics of descriptive metadata schemes such as Dublin Core, EAD, and VRA Core, as well as technical, structural, and preservation metadata schemes. This session will help make sense of all those acronyms and provide a context for identifying your own institution’s needs for the description and management of digital objects.

This demonstration class provides an overview of metadata concepts and examples of practical applications in libraries and cultural heritage organizations.
