Disaster Planning: Surviving the Unthinkable
Disasters large and small can strike at any time. Fire, floods, water damage and mold and pest infestations can decimate the collections in our care. A well thought out disaster plan can help you to identify your risk for problems, have a plan for dealing with disasters and execute the plan.
After this class you will be able to:
- Identify the key areas of a disaster plan.
- Assess your risk for potential disasters.
- Develop a plan for action and recovery.
- Identify and create relationships with resources for help and recovery.
- Evaluate your recovery priorities.
- Write a disaster plan for your institution.
Who should attemd: Anyone in archives, libraries or museums who work with and care for collections including administrators, facility managers and preservationists should attend.
