Cataloging With the OCLC Connexion Client

The OCLC Connexion client includes interactive online functionality along with macros and labels in a Microsoft Windows-based interface. Additional functionality of the Connexion client includes off-line cataloging with local files, batch processing, and support for NACO authority work and Institution Records. This hands-on class introduces the client software to perform basic cataloging functions.

At the end of this class you will be able to:

  • Search WorldCat for bibliographic records.
  • Search the OCLC Authority File.
  • Edit records interactively and offline.
  • Create new records.
  • Use the Online Save File and Local Files.
  • Link headings to the Authority File.
  • Update holdings/Produce catalog cards.
  • Use batch processing to streamline cataloging and searching operations.
  • Export records.
  • Print labels.

Who Should Attend: Users of the OCLC Connexion cataloging service.

Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of OCLC cataloging functions.
