Cataloging With the OCLC Connexion Browser

The OCLC Connexion browser provides access to cataloging in WorldCat via a web browser interface. This hands-on class introduces using Connexion to perform most functions found in OCLC's various cataloging services, plus functions unique to this interface such as automated harvesting of metadata for internet resources and controlling authorized headings.

At the end of this class you will be able to:

  • Search WorldCat for bibliographic records.
  • Search the OCLC Authority File.
  • Edit records.
  • Create new records.
  • Use the Connexion save file.
  • Link headings to the Authority File.
  • Update holdings/Produce catalog cards.
  • Export records.
  • Print labels.

Who Should Attend: Anyone wanting to perform OCLC cataloging using a web browser.

Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of OCLC cataloging functions.
