Keeping Collections Safe through Preservation Planning

Preservation of collections is one of the main tasks of archives, museums, special collections and libraries. Proper preservation planning can save libraries money, time and resources by proactively avoiding problems now rather than reactively fixing them later. A well thought out holistic preservation plan will allow an organization to carry out its duties efficiently and efficiently.

After this class you will be able to:

  • Identify preservation plan elements.
  • Conduct needs assessments.
  • Prioritize preservation actions.
  • Integrate preservation activities across the organization.
  • Develop policies and procedures.
  • Train staff and users on preservation.
