WorldCat Collection Sets

OCLC's WorldCat Collection Sets service automatically sets your holdings of sets of Microforms, non-microforms, or electronic content and provides a matching, pre-cataloged set of MARC records ready to load into an institution's local system. Instead of your staff having to catalog hundreds or thousands of individual titles, your holdings are automatically set in WorldCat so they are immediately visible to libraries around the world.

More than 300 available WorldCat Collection Sets are based on the offerings of established vendors and feature complete bibliographic records. New sets are added each week.

The records are cataloged by OCLC members. As a member institution, you can receive OCLC account credit for contributing a set your staff has cataloged. Collection Sets, however, are available for purchase by any library, not just member institutions.

Benefits include:

  • You can save time and money by loading records in one batch rather than making staff catalog items individually.
  • Your collections will be available more quickly to patrons and sharing libraries around the world.
  • There will be an increase use of new materials such as microfilm, microfiche, and electronic resources

Your library must be an OCLC member institution to contribute a collection set your staff has cataloged. You do not have to be an OCLC member library to purchase WorldCat Collection Sets.

Features

  • You receive pre-cataloged records for high-demand content collections.
  • Holdings of materials are automatically set in WorldCat,.
  • New sets are added continuously.
  • Records are cataloged by OCLC members
